Tiger Zinda Hai Sets First Day Record, For Films releasing on a Non Holiday

Tiger Zinda Hai set a new non holiday record as it grossed 34 crore nett apprx on day one and it was the fourth highest opening of all time if we dont count Bahubali - The Conclusion. The films above it are Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Sultan and Happy New Year, all holiday releases. The highest outright Hindi opener this year was Golmaal Again at 30 crore nett and collections for Tiger Zinda Hai were a little less than that film in Mumbai but rest of India was better especially South India which was over 2 crore nett better. The gap between Golmaal Again has come mainly in South, North and East.Golmaal Again was a national holiday release.

The film faced disturbances in Rajasthan due to some comments Salman Khan had made a few years back which led to protesters coming out in major cities including Jaipur, Udaipur and Kota. Rajasthan still managed to make good collections at 2 crore nett apprx but there would have been some loss due to these issues. The film has been driven by collections outside by multiplexes outside the metros and single screens which means the high ends in the metro have potential to show growth on Saturday. The film is looking set for a huge four day total with Monday being the big holiday. If the collections on Saturday can hold at this level it would be good while any growth will be a bonus for the film and then there will be the two holidays of Sunday and Monday to come.
