Has Tamil superstar Suriya embraced Islam? Sources Say Reports are baseless

A rumour that Suriya has converted to Islam started doing the rounds after an old video of the actor visiting the Kadappa mosque alongwith AR Rahman surfaced online. Sources close to the actor have refuted the claim.

Rumour-mongers in social networking sites have spread a false report that Tamil actor Suriya has embraced Islam.

An old video of Suriya visiting Kadappa mosque is the major reason for the rumour. When HT contacted sources close to the actor, they said, “All these reports are baseless. During the shoot of Singam 2, AR Rahman had invited Suriya to Kadappa mosque and it was just a casual visit, Suriya has no idea to change his religion and we only wish media act more responsible on such reports.”

Suriya is presently busy shooting for Vignesh ShivnN’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam, a film which is said to be loosely based on Akshay Kumar’s Special 26. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead in Thaanaa Serndha Koottam and Ramya Krishnan of Baahubali fame is said to be reprising Anupam Kher’s role.

After completing Thaanaa Serndha Koottam with Vignesh ShivnN, Suriya is expected to start shooting for Selvaraghavan’s spy thriller in June.
