Rishi Kapoor gets nostalgic as Regal Theatre shuts down today

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor took to Twitter to bid an emotional goodbye to Regal Theatre in Delhi, which will shut down today after an eight-decade-long golden run.

The owners have decided to screen Rishi’s father, Raj Kapoor’s classics “Mera Naam Joker” and “Sangam” on its last day.

The premiere of Rishi’s debut film as a leading man was also held at Regal Theatre. “Demolish. Adios Regal Theatre, Delhi. A place where all the Kapoor’s theatre and cinema work was seen. Had ‘Bobby’ premiered there too! Thank you!” the actor posted on Twitter alongside a picture of the iconic cinema hall.

Situated in Connaught Place area of the central Delhi, Regal was designed by architect Walter Sykes George and opened in 1932. According to owner, Vishal Choudhary, Regal had a great association with both Prithviraj Kapoor and his son Raj Kapoor.

While Prithviraj used to perform all his plays in the Regal theatre, Raj made sure that the premiere of all his films were held in Regal Theatre.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. In July, the Rajasthan High Court found the 50-year-old actor not guilty of killing an endangered species of gazelle or chinkara in two separate incidents in 1998 while he was shooting a film in the desert state. The state government challenged his acquittal; it wants him to be imprisoned to serve the rest of his sentence - after being convicted in 2007 for hunting down and killing the chinkaras, he was awarded a one-year prison term and a five-year prison term respectively. He then spent a week in jail in Jodhpur before being granted bail. Big Fight on Sets of Salman Khan's Film Dabangg

A major fight took place on the sets of the Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer movie Dabang in Wai on Sunday night. Co-producer Manoj Chaturvedi, who was in high spirits, punched the chief assistant director Himanshu Mehra as the former’s son Shantanu (an AD on the film) complained of being mistreated by the unit. Himanshu Mehra was injured because of which he had to be given three stitches on his forehead. He is currently recuperating in a hospital. Salman Khan has fired Manoj Chaturvedi’s son Shantanu because of whom the fight took place. Producer Arbaaz Khan has called for a meeting today with Manoj, who is also the production controller on the sets.
