Kunal Kapoor bags a role in Akshay Kumar's sports biopic Gold?

Rang De Basanti actor Kunal Kapoor has reportedly joined the cast of Gold, starring Akshay Kumar and to be directed by Reema Kagti.

Actor Kunal Kapoor is on a roll. After starring in the lead role in the Malayalam historical epic Veeram, Kunal Kapoor has now bagged a role in Akshay Kumar-starrer Gold, the sports film to be helmed by Talaash director Reema Kagti.


Gold revolves around the tale of the Indian hockey team which won the country's first Olympic medal as a free nation in 1948 at the 14th London Olympiad.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Kunal Kapoor has begun his training in hockey already, a couple of hours every day with his coach in Chembur.

"The actor will be training for five-six months before he begins shooting so that he can pull off the part of a professional hockey player. The film is expected to go on floors by July or August this year," a source was quoted as saying.

Gold is the first time Akshay Kumar will be collaborating with Farhan Akhtar. Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, Gold will be shot in London and India.

The film is scheduled to release on Independence Day next year.

Salman Khan Issued Supreme Court Notice On Acquittal In Chinkara Poaching Case Actor Salman Khan was today issued notice by the Supreme Court on an appeal by the Rajasthan government challenging his acquittal in two poaching cases. Big Fight on Sets of Salman Khan's Film Dabangg

A major fight took place on the sets of the Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer movie Dabang in Wai on Sunday night. Co-producer Manoj Chaturvedi, who was in high spirits, punched the chief assistant director Himanshu Mehra as the former’s son Shantanu (an AD on the film) complained of being mistreated by the unit. Himanshu Mehra was injured because of which he had to be given three stitches on his forehead. He is currently recuperating in a hospital. Salman Khan has fired Manoj Chaturvedi’s son Shantanu because of whom the fight took place.
